The Eblis and the Frog

The Thursday game, recap of July the 30th – The party heads to the door with three human heads looking out. Peering past one, the Paladin notices chains running up from the undead creatures to the ceiling, around a pulley and to the top of the door. When the Cleric turns the undead, they run away and as they do, the chains begin to lift the door. After jamming something under the door, we enter. Six cauldrons filled with bones, four statues of warriors and a bronze hanging shield are placed around the room. Papazotl’s sarcophagus piled with treasure lies in the middle.

First, we pick off the undead one by one. We find a hidden door to the east which opens into a small hall ending in an alcove. A bottle sits on a table. The Paladin hears a female voice calling for help. After some questioning, we release the dao named Keshma al-Wazir imprisoned within. She agrees to help us three times in return for her freedom. Back in the room, the Paladin removes the shield from the far wall. A shatter spell destroys the six cauldrons. As the Paladin attempts to remove the lid of the sarcophagus, one of the warrior statues animates, throws a spear at the Druid, but misses. Within the sarcophagus are some cash items and the amulet of Papazotl. Taking the amulet, the Paladin feels the spirit of the eblis enter him.

We leave the room and head west to a hallway. Invisible, the Warlock scouts the area to find two tomb guardians in opposite alcoves. Further west, a room opens to the north which contains a portico of four columns under which rests a stone sarcophagus. The party quickly kills the two guardians and goes to investigate the room. Within, a wall contains four frescos of images of people worshiping a froghemoth. On another wall, four frog masks are hung. Four of us put on the frog masks and recreate the images placing the results on an altar below the frescos. After the fourth tribute, the lid of the sarcophagus slides back. The Monk takes the bracers within and feels the spirit of Kubazon enter him. The Druid takes the ring of Obo’laka. The party takes a short rest before continuing. We still have the locust trapped room of the almiraj to explore, but we seem no closer to finding the Soul Monger.
