A New Campaign

The Thursday game, recapping 1/7/21 – A rag tag group of adventurers have assembled near Neverwinter on the Sword Coast. A mutual acquaintance, Davik Pebblehorn, has called on them for a favor for which he promises gold. Davik is currently in the city of Phandelin and has taken up a leadership position by commissioning the fortification of the city walls against orc attacks.

Our newly formed group is taking the High Road south from Neverwinter when we see a wagon crashed in the middle of the road. Four human figures tumble out. Immediately, we see several orcs closing in until a shadow passes overhead. Even the orcs give pause as a white dragon drops from the sky, grabs the crash survivors in its maw, and flies away.

We approach to find a human named Urdak Orina hidden under the wagon. A quick cure wounds gets him back on his feet just in time for him to help us battle five orcs. After slaying them in a somewhat painful battle, we find a crude map that outlines an area just east of the crossroads of the High Road the road leading to Phandelin. We agree to camp at the crossroads and investigate this area the next day.

Our evening’s rest passes uneventfully. By noon, we have traveled to where a game trail enters the woods heading north. Following this path, we find a cave guarded by two orcs of the White Scar clan. We kill one in a surprise attack, but the other guard disappears into the cave. We stealthily begin to explore the cave. A disheveled sleeping chamber has a passage where the ceiling has collapsed, but holds nothing of interest. We continue searching the cave realizing that however many orcs are within these twisting passages, they know we are coming! Urdak is still with us and may have valuable information. We should talk to him at the first opportunity.
